Introduction

 

The Mongolian Academy of Science proposed an idea to the Ministry of Education and Science to establish an institute for the purpose of preparing its next generations who was chosen from the State Olympiads and the competitive examinations and in 1992, a decision of establishing an Institute of Technology was issued with the promotion of the Ministry of Education and Science under the decision 109 dated February 29. According to the order 15 issued by the Ministry of Education and Science and decision 259/A-184 dated July 26, 1996, of Governor’s office of Ulaanbaatar city, status of the Institute of Technology was changed into Ulaanbaatar University. 

Training process of the Ulaanbaatar State University has three levels of education; Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees and offers triple training programs; training – research – production.    

Scientists and teachers namely, a laureate of the Order of Chinggis Khaan, Mongolian State Honored scientist, Merit worker of Science, Academician Sc.D. Kh.Namsrai, Academician Ts.Baatar, Ph.D., prof Ch.Dechinpuntsag in the field of physics; Ph.D., prof U.Badam, Ph.D., ass.prof G.Ankhbayar in the field of mathematics; Academician D.Baatar, Sc.D., prof E.Ganbold, Ph.D G.Tserenkhand in the field of biology; Sc.D., prof J.Oyun, Ph.D., prof D.Urtnasan, Ph.D B.Munkhtsetseg in the field of chemistry; Merit worker of Culture, Ph.D., prof D.Tsedev, Merit worker of Culture, Ph.D., prof Ch.Dagvadorj, Sc.D., prof S.Baigalsaikhan, Ph.D., prof Ts.Erdenebat, Ph.D., prof G.Lovor, Ph.D., prof G.Bilguudei, Ph.D., ass.prof Kh.Suglegmaa, Ph.D., ass.prof A.Munkh-Orgil, Ph.D. Sh.Battur, Ph.D. L.Haliun in the field of Mongolian study; the Honored teacher of Mongolia, Ph.D. O.Tsevegdorj, Ph.D., prof S.Tsolmon, Ph.D., prof Ts.Erdenebaatar, Ph.D. D.Bayarsaikhan and Ph.D. S.Tuul in the field of history and humanity; have been playing a leading role in the triple training programs; training – research – production.

Scientists and professors of our university also have the opportunity to carry out their training and research works together with the international academy and research centers in highly developed countries including, Academy of Trieste, Italy; University of Hamburg, Germany; Tohoku University, Waseda University, Japan; Chonnam National University, Dankook University, Soonchunhyang University, Korea; Sankt Petersburg State University, University of Erhuu, University of Ulaan-Ude, University of Chita, Russia; Central China Normal University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Yantai University, and Pedagogical University of Inner Mongolia.   

Besides, the training process of the university is based on resources for scientists and laboratories; there are some advantages of collaborating with the scientists of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and laboratories that combine with the basic research. The university also offers opportunities to participate in domestic and international research projects and expeditions for the learners who want to study in bachelor, master and doctoral degree. As well as, working as a research assistant positions after graduation at the Institutes of The Mongolian Academy of Science is a main result of our collaborative work. Some of our graduates have been working successfully at the Institute of Physics, Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Informatics, Institute of Biology, Institute of Language and Literature, and Institute of History and Archeology. The training environment can be formulated as following;

~         8000 square meters with two school buildings

~        52 lecture halls

~         33 departments and agencies

~         A library with over 18000 kinds of books and a service hall

~         A digital library - electronic resources with audio books, e-books and videos

~        14 training and research laboratories   

~         An internet laboratory

~         Some language laboratories which was well-equipped to support teaching and learning

~        An archeological research base which is located in Undur-Ulaan soum, Arkhangai province   

~         A Center for experiment and local research studies to sprout bushy plant seedlings and fruits which is located in Batsumber soum, Tuv province
